St Augustine Florida Waterfront Luxury Homes For Sale

Known as the oldest city in the United States, St. Augustine offers a wide variety of sights to see and places to visit.  This makes St. Augustine the perfect place to call home for people who love history and a peaceful place to live in.

Founded in 1565, St. Augustine is now the county seat of St. Johns County and is called home by 11,592 residents according to the latest census.  As such, there is no shortage of good facilities around the city making it easy for families to move to St. Augustine.  Good schools and facilities abound in the city.

Tourist attractions are also numerous.  One of such attractions is the St. Augustine Lighthouse.  It has 214 steps from the bottom to the top so if one is looking to shed some calories along with looking at a great view, then visiting the Lighthouse is a good idea.

Another place worthy of a visit is the Government House Museum.  As can be expected, this museum holds the bulk of information about everything St. Augustine.  It is where one will find artifacts and facts about the economic and cultural history of the oldest city in the United States.

For people who want to see amazing things about the past of the city at no charge, there is the Ximenez-Fatio House located in 20 Aviles Street.  This 19th century inn has been restored to its original look so one can see what its like to live in the past by simply taking advantage of the free tour offered to the public of this house.

One can also visit the Spanish Military Hospital in Aviles Street.  It has been turned into a museum.  Back in the days, it is known as the Hospital of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  In here, one can see the medical tools used back in the days when the hospital still cares to the sick and the wounded.

Near the old Military Hospital is the old Spanish Quarter Village.  This village features different building which in turn features things used way back.  Tours of the village are given by costumed guides making the visit more appealing to history buffs.
